I have the RIK-2T kit from Daniel Stern and I'm having some issues wiring it up. The low beams work but when I try high beams the relay kicks off and no lights. I've been in touch with him and he gave me step by step instructions which I double checked and everything seems correct. Bulbs and fuses are good. Anyone else run into this or have any ideas?

odd, I have the same harness (got it before he started selling 'kits')...was plug n play for me
do you have any other lights tied into your hi-beams or lo-beams?

No, just standard H4 bulbs. The kit came with three relays and new ceramic plugs for the bulbs. He walked me through it and has been very helpful but nothing yet. They worked fine before.

I don't have the DS harness...
and instead the SUV.
so don't know the details of the DS product.

that said...
to be sure you didn't fubar something...
did you return to oem and check if that is still working correctly ?

Check fuses ?
You did disconnect the battery first I would assume ?

It is possible that the high beams filament of the bulbs
got damaged if those were already somewhat compromised.
So In hooking back up to the oem wiring...
you would be 100% sure the bulbs are not culprit.

Possibly your grounds are fubar and not working good.
Be sure to remove any paint from the surface of the ground points
to make sure they are making proper contact.

Switched back to stock and everything works, good call. When the lows are on (with daniel stern lighting set up) getting a buzzing from one of the relays. Fuses are all good.

TacoDell, if you don't mind could you explain the wiring for your setup? Maybe I can use what I have to copy yours.

Not so sure yer model year is the same deal.

Does yer junk have DTRL's ?

It's possible the 3rd relay is designated for the DTRL's ?

^ I have no day time running lights.

I'll have to look at mine anyways... been 8 years since installed.
just remember it being purdy much plug n play.

Are the DS wiring instructions on line ?
Link that ^ and someone may be able to point out
where you fubar'd those directions. Lol

hadn't thought of the DTRLs...yea, probably what that 3rd relay is for.
sounds like there is something wrong with the harness.

The headlight harness I have(http://www.headlightservices.com/4runner3.html) has three relays and isn't for daytime running light equipped vehicles. The place I bought mine from sells either a three relay or a two relay w/resister kit or harness. I got a premade harness(sold for a 3rd gen 4runner but fits and functions on an early Tacoma perfectly) so I can't really explain exactly how it's wired(it's covered in heat shrink). I just wanted to say that a three relay if it's wired the same as mine isn't for drls.
