I have a 99 Tacoma 4x4 and have had weird issues with my running lights and turn signals. My current problem is that my left turn signal comes on and stays on (not blinking) whenever I turn either my parking lights or full headlights on - when it's daytime and my running lights are not on, both turn signals work fine as do my hazard lights.
When it's dark (running lights on) and attempt to use my left turn signal, nothing happens - it is already on (not blinking) and just stays on (not blinking). The right turn signal operates normally whether the running lights are on or off. Is this a fried turn signal relay?
NOTE: Ever since I got this vehicle (2 yrs. ago?), it seems I go thru tail light bulbs fairly often - more so than other vehicles I've owned. I also live in MN and we've got some pretty severe corrosion issues going on here due to winter road maintainance so I know that may be a factor - I do alot of fishing/hunting in slop and don't have a garage so I would say I'm probably end up a little harder than some folks on my vehicles too. I also have a 4-way flat electrical trailer hook up on this truck as well which has caused me some electrical headaches in the past as far as blown fuses, etc. but I have cleaned that up here in the last few weeks because of the tail lights fuse kept burning out! Just looking to see what you guys think as I really hate taking it to the dealer!! Not that I like working on my truck in the MN winter either! It's a great truck to date but this little electrical stuff is getting to be a drag..!Thanks for any input in advance....

my 98 has problems with the turn signal switch too
it keeps clicking even when I am not turning UGH!!!
I am so annoyed(not being sarcastic) I get into my truck and the first thing I hear is the damn turn signal clicking
I am going to remove it and just run a damn switch, depending if I can't find a cheap used one

you certainly have a wiring problem, sheesh ;) Other than the trail harness do you have any other mods to the electrical system like aux lights or anything where you tapped to a circuit? If only the trail harness that is where I would start. trace the entire thing down looking for any bare wires, breaks in the insulation or spots where the wires are rubbing the frame. take any and all connections appart and clean them; if they are badly corroded replace them. Wiring a trailer harness on the Tacoma is not the same as other trucks from what I've read including a recall some time back about the factory tow pkg causing problems.

electrical problems are a real PITA and take a lot of time to track down, good luck. when all else fails get it back to stock and start over.
