Anyone ever done this? I have a brand new set of factory leaf with all of 20 miles on them(replaced during frame recall then swapped out for 63 chevys). My current rear springs are beat- truck was previously owned by a roofing company if that tells you anything.
Basically I have all the front end lift parts from my old truck, funds really arent in place to buy new leafs at the moment.
I'm thinking about taking my current leaf set (worn out) and using the main leaf (cut the spring eyes off) as an add a leaf to the new factory spring packs I have.
I'm not really concerned with flex, I would rather have a stiffer spring rate for this truck as it seem like 98-04 rear suspensions are soft imo.
Im dont really want to pay for aal's if I can use what I have. I'm basically looking for about 1.5-2" of lift and a stiffer spring rate.

Yep, I did this before my SAS, when I needed a 2" lift for the rear.

You'll have to add 2 leafs IIRC. Taper them down, but keep them as long as possible.
