Has anyone tackled this yet? I know they had that green one at the car show. But I want to do this when I get my truck all Pre-Runner-ed.

Is there a lot you have to do to the Frame? Who wants to help me? haha

If you arn't even sure where to start, this sort of project is likely out of reach as a "do it yourself" type of issue. Speaking from experience, putting an engine in a car that wasn't designed for it is a bear of work, if you have great fabrication skills it's not so bad -- what kills me is if using modern vehicles/engines, the electronics aspect is just a PITA.

IMO stay away from the V-8 swap. Put a supercharger and headers on the V-6 and be done with it. Then you have a relatively cheap upgrade, HP on demand, still get decent mileage when your foot is out of the throttle and no PITA fab/electronic integration issues.

Whatever you do, keep it toyota. That way all of the parts will work together and you won't have to use adapter kits.

Can you say nuclear meltdown????? That kind of motor is very short lived and would break any and all of your drivetrain components the first time you hit the loud pedal. Maybe possible on 45 lbs of boost and nitro  but why. We aren't drag racing around here, or maybe we are...from mall to mall  :)

i've heard of people swapping in a cummins 4bt. i think it has about 300 ft/lbs of torque with stock turbo and everything. I think there is a lot of frame work you have to do with that but you might want to check into it.

A 4bt is hella heavy (I used to work on alot of them in Case contruction equipment). Even if you somehow get it to fit under the hood you'll probably have to beef the frame and definetly the suspension. Lots of work. There has to be better options out there. Just my 2 cents.

Dude leave the motor it's a good one. I used to run a S/C on my 2.7L on my 2000 and had more problems with it than good. Once I fried my old motor I swapped in a 2.7L from a 2003 wrecked Taco that wasn't supercharged. I'd take a non-aspirated motor anyday just because of the reliability. If you're really serious about getting power invest some $$$ into headers and exhaust, intake, and getting head work done on the motor, that's the route I went and I don't regret it at all.

Hey man... do you have a list of mods that you did to your truck and any specs on the power you're putting out? I'm always curious to see what people do to make these 3RZ's run nice. I consider a nicely tuned N/A engine to be almost an art.

Custom intake, custom exhaust, and ported heads. I don't have any exact numbers that my engine puts out, it gets the job done :)

Most the work is done at my buddy's shop in Orange. He swaps STi motors into old school Subie GC coupes, so he knows a thing or two ;)

I know it's of topic, but do you have a link to that kind of craziness?
