Did anyone ever do a valve body removal thread?? Or can someone tell me how difficult it is to remove it on the Tacoma's... I've done it on older cars but nothing on newer one "YET". ;) I just put a s/c and 7th injector in and when you're on it, it just doesn't seem like the tranny will hold up very long the way it shifts.. I'm looking to do this soon but was wondering how hard the jobs going to be... Any info would be great...

DCabTaco: Thanks so much for that link.... It will help a lot....

zeek1974: yeah.. i'm looking to send it there at the end the month... Did you take out your valve body yourself?? Was it hard??
I did mine and it wasn't hard at all. Expect an ATF shower though. Worst part is making sure the right bolts get in the right holes. I suggest you make a simple template out of cardboard and punch holes in it to put the bolts in as you take them out. That sure makes the install easy. Also, I found it easier to just unbolt the solenoids with the wires attached. That way you don't take a chance of breaking the connectors that may have become brittle with age and heat. Just let them hang on the wires while you wait for the valve body to come back from John. You will like doing business with John at IPT. He is a good guy and really takes care of his customers. He has called me twice since he did my valvebody just to check on it.

Thanks Dave for the reply... Just from a few wide open throttle shifts I could tell that if I did that alot that the tranny won't last.... It does shift hard... After it slips for 3 sec first... lol...

I had a tranny shop remove and replace mine and I fedexed it myself to IPT.. it will take some time to get use to the new shift (auto trans) since the upgrade does away with the "luxury smooth" shift that the truck comes with from the factory. I was going to put Amsoil in the tranny to smooth it out a little. You will feel it "bump" when the tranny is shifting in the slower gears (1st to 2sn to 3rd).

I would rate the mod as a moderate for difficulty level. Just make sure you take your time and torque everything properly. John at IPT is a great guy to deal with and knows exactly how to tune the VB on these Tacos. If you have any question make sure to ask.
