When my u-joint went bad, it was the opposite - vibration would go away after I let off the gas. :dunno:

I was thinking vibration when let off gas was pinion or carrier bearing(s)? I've heard one is gas and one is coast, but I forget exact which.

wow, i just ran into this today with my buddies jeep grand cherokee.
his full time 4wd and it makes noise and shakes as soon as he lets off the pedal. i know his u joints are good cause we thought that was the problem and replaced all of them today.

pinion or carrier that sounds about right but i dont remember wich one.
