i want to have another vehicle that i can start building into a rockcrawler so i can have something for a daily driver and somethign else to thrash on the hills..how good of a rockcrawler could you build with only $8000 or is it not worth trying? and what would be a good cheap vehicle to get to start working on? i would like something that has a solid axle in it to start with to save some money.. and i want to run 35 in tires

Get a Jeep, come w/SFA already and have a world of parts available for them.

would i be able to build it up very well for rockcrawling with only 8k?? are they very strong for offroad use?? i have heard people say jeeps are built cheap..but look for one for around 2k then so i still have 6k for mods?

something thats old, that wont cost money to fix is what i would go with, preferably and old toyota truck

Look around your area. Try an older jeep or k5 blazer. If you aren't going for bling then just buy used parts (ie axles, body parts, seats, etc). Kinda depends on how cheep you want to go though. I think with 8,000 you should have more then enough.

no i dont care how good it looks it would just be a trail only rig..i wont even put insurance on it just tow it to the trails.

what would be a good price for an older jeep like what should i try to keep it around keeping in mind i want it to be a good rockcrawler. so i still need money for mods

Depends, you can usually pick up a good running jeep with some body damage or maybe interior problems for a few grand. I haven't been in the states for a bit over 2 years so I am unsure. But look on pirate board. There are vehicles and parts for sale all the time. Even Ebay if it is close to you.

If you decide on a jeep, I have a bone stock 1971 CJ-5 for sale. :)
