I installed a magnaflow 14" muffler on my truck the other week, but I'm wanting something more now. I have an offset inlet and outlet type on there. I was wondering if maybe a center center would make for a better sound because you can look straight threw the muffler. The baffles are on the outside of the muffler so you can basically see right threw it.

I'm wondering if this would make for more sound from the exhaust. I don't want something as loud as my flowmaster. All I'm doing is welding up where the stock muffler was already. Would maybe welding up closer to the cat be better for sound or anything.

I really don't know that much about exhaust so please excuse anything that just sounds strange.

I had heard word about a flowmaster delta series, but I have never heard one on any vehicles around here. I know that the flowmaster magnaflow debate is always going on around here. I was in one for 1 week.

Do you know any sites that have any sound bytes with 4cyl engines. The one that I know has only 6cyl engines with different mufflers. They always sound different from a 4 then a 6.

How much does a Delta Series muffler cost anyways?

I have a 98 2.7 and I was going to go with Flowmasters but decided to go with a weld in Borla..a little different tone to it. Anyways Flowmaster makes a 60 series delta flow muffler and its designed to work with smaller engines like 4 and 6 cylinders. Might want to check those out. If you go to Flowmasters website they have a list of all of their mufflers and what applications each one should be used for. Heres the link to the muffler list page:

Oh and by the way if you decide to go Borla..don't get a Pro XS cuz they are way too quiet. Go with an original Borla they are much more louder. Hope this helps

Thank you for the website. I'm checking it out right now. I can't decide if I wanted to go with the flowmaster or a different magnaflow maybe. I was going to try and stay away from the flowmaster because I have always had one on my truck. I will though if that means for more sound.

The Magnaflow you have is straight through even if it is offset/offset. The inner tube is just at an angle but it is straight through so if you have a center to center it won't change a thing. The 14" is not loud enough???

I have a 14" oval, no offset on it, welded where the stock exhaust is, downpipe. Love the tone of it. Not too loud, doesn't drone, and has a really nice tone in the upper RPM's.

I have a two chamber Flow with a 3" turndown on my V6 and it sounds absolutely evil. I've had Flowmasters on all my trucks and have never looked back.

Also try a deckplate mod, it'll give you're exhaust a deeper tone with the increased airflow.

If you want a sound byte of what a series 50 Delta Flow sounds like on a 2.7 with a pace setter header I can get that for you :D mmmm so sweet.. and it was $100 installed at local shop btw , sound byte would be with no exhaust after the 50 series flowmaster :D no emissions/exhaust requirements in my area \m/ ive tried a turn down on it and it sounds like a damn rice burner
