So ive got this sound that im hearing. It is hard to describe but I will do my best. When I take off in first gear, in the low rpms there is a hollow crackling type sound. It sounds like it is coming from the rear diff. It stops once you get out of the low rpms, but its starts again in low rpms of the second gear. (manual v6 4wd by the way). It stops in second gear after you get out of low rpms and it doesn't do it at any other point beyond that. And it only does then when accelerating. Any ideas??

I would love to know this also. I just replaced 2 U-joints, and that was not it. I have the same symptoms. Except mine seems to do it at various times. Does not do it all the time but when it does It can get loud. Definilty coming from that back though.

The carrier bearing is the support looking the that is next to the middle joint on the drive shaft that the drive shaft goes through right?? Mine really seems like it is coming from further back though
