Wondering about running a welded front diff with my ifs truck
it would only be a temp thing for trail runs. I have a spare or two laying around. So I could swap them out before leaving. I do know it will be hard to steer for sure but how would it do on the highway? Are the cvs strong enough if I don'tbeat the ever living piss out of em like usual?

I wouldn't run welded front unless I had a way to run 2wd low. The stock steering will not like turning, you will likely bend parts under normal steering. If you had an upgraded idler arm it could be doable. The front axles are a little weaker then the 3rd gen 4runner/tacoma stuff.

If you could pick up a twin stick for cheap befor your run, I would run welded.
