My copper braid of my earth ground clamp on my Lincoln 175
broke... and I couldn't find new braiding to replace that with...

So I purchased a 500 amp rated grounding clamp from Lowes

Had to replace the bolt as it was too large for my 175's cable lug.
So I took the bolt off my original clamp (which has a horseshoe type lug on it)
and inserted that into the new clamp...
it seems to seat well on the braiding and I'd guess should be a decent contact.

Question is...
would there be any issue with using an over rated earth clamp on my welder ?

I'm guessing no... but thought I'd ask to be sure.

thanks for a response :)

this clamp is a better quality then the original cheapo...
so maybe it'll work better then the original did :dunno:
tho' use is more difficult... I need three, well... two strong hands to open this thing

maybe not too great for lite work

the spring will probably loosen up a bit with some use, but not to much. i replaced the one on my arc welder and it was a tough sob to use for a while. idk it it became weaker or my hand got alittle stronger. it shouldnt work better since the factory one was rated prenty high for your machine anyways. only way if would work better is if your ground was the weak link. now get back to :welder:

Dell what are you calling a earth ground clamp? Maybe the work ground clamp.
