Like I said above I did do the search but couldnt find what exactly a tripod style cv is. I think it is the inner part of the cv that goes into the diff am I right? It looks like the is 3 notches taken out of the larger part? The reason why I ask is because I ran accross a thread that says you have to run a tripod style on an ADD truck. Well Im a bit concerned because I just put 2 new cvs in and they are perfectly round on the large end and they work well.

Located inside the inboard tulip is a tripod bearing -

thank you but im a bit confused. My stock cv looked like that but the ones I put in my truck dont look like that. The inboard joint assembly is round and doesnt have the three dishes like that.

Aftermarket Cv probably just has a cosmetically different "inboard joint"

yea my napa one does. i got a supposedly brand new cv joint from napa for 119 bucks. no core charge. been fine so far. my cv unlimited rebuilds suck the almighty however.

I think his had balance issues. He bought the complete reman's where as I just bought the half's where I reused the inners.

Zero problems with mine thus far and we installed them at the same time.
