Hi, I have an 89 4x4 pickup with 15'' rims. I am looking to upgrade them to 16''/17'' rims in hopes of having a little more clearance and more tire options.

Unless someone has some suggestions on what tires might give me the lift I am hoping for I would like to know what Toyota rims would fit. I see lots of people selling pretty much new rims with tires on them when they buy their new trucks and just throw em on craigslist. Pretty much the same cost as tires alone so hoping one of these will fit. The other issue is they usually only want to sell 4, and ill need the spare as well.

I mostly do overlanding so nothing too aggressive.

Looking online more for the different Toyota models, it looks like the pattern is the same as the Tundra and 4x4 models for the 4runner and Tacoma. The only different I see is that the Offset on my truck is labeled L/M where as the 4x4 models are M. I am not sure what that means though

For a 16x7 rim, you'll want something with an offset in the +15 range. That assumes you don't go with a wide tire. The late 90s and early 2000s 4Runner and Tacoma rims would be ideal. If you are going aftermarket, 4.5" backspacing max for a stock tire size.
