Those of you that put your XM antenna on the dash, where exactly did you put it? I moved mine in the cab today after I almost lost it to a tree and placed it on the dash in front of the steering wheel. I am getting sporadic dropped audio when driving North on a two lane, tree lined highway. I thought I had read of others placing the antenna on the dash with no problems. Thanks.

I tried it on the dash for a day or so, then I put it on the roof to compare. I did this on the same 45 minute trip to see if there would be a difference. On the dash, my signal dropped about 7-9 times. On the roof, no drops. The roof is definitely the way to go.

To avoid it getting yanked off by a tree or something I recommend that you put it right against the rubber gasket at the top center of the windshield. Run the rest of the wire along the gasket --> engine compartment, through the driver's firewall boot and into the cab. I have even gone through an automatic carwash (the kind with the heavy cloth tentacle things) and the antenna only moved a fraction of an inch.

I have mine stuck on top of the cab in front of the third brake light. When I go wheeling I just slide it on to the back of the cab to keep it from getting snagged. The reception is almost as good and no worries about having it torn off.
