I just ordered XM and I Haven't decided how to power it so I was wondering what you guys have done. The kit comes with a cigarette adapter, but my truck is a 97 and only has one which I use to charge my phone. I was wondering if there is a good place in the dash to get power. I'm not an electronics person at all, and I'm worried about connecting to "dirty" power that will hum with the RPM of the engine.

Hey maybe this might help. I had my wideband hardwired to the fuse box under the steering wheel by using a fuse tap. It is basically a piece that goes into the top of the fuse where the metal from the fuse is visible and open. The wire then attached to that with a crimp and that was that. Now whenever I turn my truck on or the key a little past off it has power. It is an idea you could try,the part should be found at the auto parts store. It was the first time I had seen this before but hey they have probably been around forever. Hopefully there is no side effects from this cuz I have yet to experience any. Hope it can be of some help.

Well what I am gonna do is...... get myself a another cig. adapter and just tie it into +12 behind the radio. The car adapter has a transformer that drops it down to 6v if I remember correctly. So rather than make a circuit I just assume use the stock cig. adapter without cutting.
Just my 2 cents.

Do like Oppositeboy says...that will work best for you.

I myself have an auxilary amplifier under the seat, so I tapped power, ground, and remote off the amp and fed my XM tuner with that...

I will soon be ditching the XM for Sirus though...Howard Stern rules...
