oh mighty ttora oracle...

did some searching, but I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for:

'04 dcab, ~50k miles... After driving around for a bit -- say 40+ miles, when I turn off the truck, I hear this strange "whomp whomp whomp" sound coming from the gas filler/neck area. If I remove the gas cap, the sound goes away.

I'm thinking it's some kinda funky vacuum issue; but that's pure speculation.

any thoughts?

thanks,
ryan

Sounds like a problem with your evaporative emmissions system. It is probably pressure build up. Your gas cap is made to vent too much pressure and that is the sound you are hearing.

Evap emmisions should be under warranty yet.

It could be the dude that wired the 4 pounds of C-4 around your gas tank didn't know his shit when it came to detonators..
