I went with the double cab longbed as I need all the space I can get for tools etc...Its actually only a foot longer than my 94 sr5 extended cab truck which really surprised me when I measured it...I think the shortbeds look a little wrong somehow, but thats just my .02..I almost bought one when I was looking for a stick, but went with the auto longbed instead. I've been very happy with it unless I need to parallel park in NYC... :)

It should be the same length... A long bed DC is a reg bed on a xcab... both are 6'.. Toyota only offers a 5' and a 6' bed... And in 94 they only offered a 6' bed..

Now your making it hard, that looks like a nice truck. Does everyone like there Double Cab. Check out my 05'
Can't wait to hear the explanation you gave the insurance co for that one:rolleyes:

Having trouble deciding on the long or short bed TRD Double Cab 2007. Anyone got pics and thoughts?
get the short bed. getter mpg. better turning radious.

unless you can really warrent the extra beds pace... if youll only need it once or twice... just leave the gate down... in the long run i know i;d never use it.

Does you bike fit in the short bed?
i have the shrt bd and the only bike you might be able to fit iin a shrt bd w/out an issue is a 125 4stroke. i've had a 250 2strk and i currently have a drz 400 4 stroke and with both i had to have the tail gate down and put the bike in katty corner and still have tire hanging off the tail gate. it's a PITA! if your going to make a habbit of toting a bike in the bed get the long bed or fess up for a trailer.

i kinda worded that wrong. i had both bikes and when toting 1 at a time it barely fit. there's no way i could get 2 bikes of that size in the bed. check out this guys bike rack. this is the one i use now. from this same guy. for the price this thing is gold! if all you want the long bed for is a bike but really want a short bed and can't afford a trailer or the space for a trailer this is the way to go.
i bought this same model from him 1 1/2 years ago and it hasn't let me down yet. i carry my drz 400 on it. wet weight on my bike is 310lbs. this thing doesn't budge. check it out.....:2cents:

i do agree though having a trailer is definatly the way to go. unfortunatly i don't have the space so i went this route instead.

I went with the Long Bed. I surf a lot and the SB wasn't even an option. I came from an 05 ac Tundra and i loved having a decent sized bed.

i think the short beds look kinda dumb stock and really dumb lifted.
the long beds look dumb stock but perfect lifted...i wanted a manual but the looks of a long bed i knew would look good..i swa a couple of shortbeds lifted...ugly.
plus a 6 foot bed is minimum if its a truck

Any trail that gets tight though or any real hillclimb will make a long bed a boat. I get caught by my bed and its a short bed.

Now regular cabs are sweet for the trail.

I needed the manual for the long mountain road decents, I test drove the auto and it just wouldn't hold itself back and I hate riding the breaks.

I needed the long box for hauling gear for work.

Traded off the gear hauling for the 6sp and went with the short box.

Damn you Toyota for making me compromise.

Odd, I think my auto engine brakes better than my 5spd's ever did.

Thou I am still a manual guy when it comes to diesels... but on the gassers I like the auto in the woods better.

I thought that I was gonna end up getting the long bed, test drove it for a couple of hours..it was murder in parking lot, seems like the turning radius was twice what the short bed was.
24K later on my '05 TRD SB DC, i like it. works great for me, wife 3 kids and the dogs. I tow 1500-5K a couple of times a month with it...

this would be harder with the LB

I love my short bed. My 40" spare tire fits in it nicely......:p

Love the 5 speed auto tranny too. I think it's the best Toyota has come out with yet.

I mountain bike all the time and my bike doesnt fit in my buddies short bed without taking the wheels off. It fits perfectly in my longbed and I dont have to take the wheels off. You just have to decide if you want the offroading benefits of the shortbed or the hauling benefits of the longbed. Either way its hard to be disappointed with a tacoma.

I have a shortbed, but wouldn't mind the longer bed every now and then. The shortbed is 78" with the tailgate down. This wasn't long enough to carry my brother's Kawasaki Vulcan 750. We had to rent a trailer from U-Haul.

You summed it up.
