I have 2 question that I hope you fine folks can answer.

I am going to be assisting a friend in changing his manual tranny fluid. He has a reg cab 2wd Tacoma with the 2.4L.

1) Are the drain and fill bolts 12mm hex?
2) How much fluid is needed for a change?

As for the rear diff:
1) What size are the bolts?
2) How much fluid?

Peace.

Thanks!!! Are those instructions true for a 2.4L Tacoma?

Its all the same concept. You un bolt drain plug. tighten. Unbolt fill plug and fill with oil. Maybe you should crawler underneath your truck and take a look.

I would if it were my truck. I am going to be helping a buddy do it this weekend and I want to make sure we had everything we needed before we start. He lives 2 hours away, and if he were able to do it himself he would...but he can't. He is a, "if it's broke take it to the stealer" kinda guy.

Well we finished it up. Time consuming but not hard by any means. I wish I had a manual trans in my 4Runner! I guess the toughest part was getting to the spark plugs. PITA! The tranny plugs and the diff plugs are all 24mm. This is what we completed at 30161 miles:

O/F
Manual Trans Drain/Fill
Diff Drain/Fill
Radiator Drain/Fill
Replace Front Brake Pads
Plugs
Wiper Blades
TB Cleaning

Used Toyota Parts, Toyota Red, Coolant, and Mobil1 Synthetic Oil and Lube

Good for another 30K. :welder:
