throttle position sensor maybe?

 

i had the same problem and finally got fixed by changing out the rubber grommit/gasket for the idle adjustment

 

Check the coolant overflow tank. Confuses the idle air control valve if the coolant is not above the fill hose at all times.

 

the throttle position, mine did that too and it was throttle position sensor turned out it was on backwards haha dont know how that could happen but it fixed the problem, make sure its on properly :2cents:

Your idle is set too high. Get the idle below 1000 RPM or so and the problem with the brake pedal changing the idle will go away.

 

Also check all vaccum lines for leaks and make sure they are hooked up. It could be that simple.

 

I'm putting my money on a loose vacuum line.

 

A vaccum hose popped off my 22r and that caused it to diesel, so check that, but also my budides 22re was doing that and the tps was disconnected...

If id does it only when your foot is on the brake, you will need to adjust your idle down to around 750 rpms. when your foot depresses the brake pedal with a high rpm, the ECM will try to lower the rpms, thus causing the idle to pulsate up and down.

this is the only time I encountered that situation.

 

Vacuum lines or a TPS.

Tell your friend to find a new mechanic as some shop sounds like they suck. Replacing parts and the problem is still there, I hope he didn't pay for that BS.

where was that pulsation damper you said fixed your 3.0. My old 94 is doing the same thing and I have changed and checked everything I can think of. I'm just not sure what your talking about or where its at. Please let me know. would be of great help. I'll keep check on this thread. Thanks
