Having trouble deciding on the long or short bed TRD Double Cab 2007. Anyone got pics and thoughts?

If your going to offroad I would go with shortbed. Unless you lift the longbed over 4 inches its a boat and will drag everywhere you go.

I agree with 06, but it depends on what you're going to use it for.. What are you wanting to do with it ?? Looks, work, gear and or equipment, etc., etc... I was looking at the Leer caps for mine, nothing like a highboy cap but one that is roofline to give it a nice look and the I can store tools, gear, etc..

Yup X3 tell us what you are using it for. I have the SB and regret not having the extra bed space, but it offroads great and it's easier to park in tight spots.

I was thinking about the same thing but what made me choose the short bed is the fact that you cant get the TRD Offroad package if you get the long bed. But then I'm still deciding between the FJ and a Taco. Why have such a small bet at all. If I need to haul stuff then Ill rent a trailer.

I guess I use it most for pulling my boat/tractor. I have a motorcycle and don't know if it will fit in the short bed. I also every once in awhile will pick up some lumber and such. Plus the weekly trash. Would like to put a tent on the back for camping, but could I even sleep in the back being 6'1 myself?

you could sleep in thre if you really needed to. diaganol with your legs slightly bent. im 6'3. its not my first preference on where to sleep,i could do it. but never have. life could be worse. you probably would be sore and tight in the morning. but i feel that way every morning on my king size sealy. oh well
i have the short bed. i personally thnk the long bed looks awkward. but i wheel mine and do dump runs rarely and move refrigerators etc rarely also.

I love my DC... Its a SB but I havent had a problem with space yet. I even put the toyota tool box in, so I lost about 18" of upper bed space... But there has always been plenty of room, but I also have storage in the trailer I take camping. I am putting a rack over the bed soon for more storage..

For me it came down to options. I wanted a rear locker and the TRAC package, neither of which you can get on the LB.. so SB it was. I also thought about a bed extender, but wont go that route as the tailgate can bounce when left down. I have a hitch haul with a 7" lift bar, so that can go in my receiver if I ever need it....

The SB is great, and I feel like I could use more storage, but a LB wouldn't be enough more to get my gear and a dirt bike... so SB is fine.

i have the shrt bd and the only bike you might be able to fit iin a shrt bd w/out an issue is a 125 4stroke. i've had a 250 2strk and i currently have a drz 400 4 stroke and with both i had to have the tail gate down and put the bike in katty corner and still have tire hanging off the tail gate. it's a PITA! if your going to make a habbit of toting a bike in the bed get the long bed or fess up for a trailer.

Nope... but Toyota claims the auto is faster in the 1/4, its more fuel efficant, and is the prefered tranny for towing.. I like my auto, and I am a 5spd guy :D

I went with the double cab longbed as I need all the space I can get for tools etc...Its actually only a foot longer than my 94 sr5 extended cab truck which really surprised me when I measured it...I think the shortbeds look a little wrong somehow, but thats just my .02..I almost bought one when I was looking for a stick, but went with the auto longbed instead. I've been very happy with it unless I need to parallel park in NYC... :)
I have DC 4x4 long bed! LTed it and love it! See in the dez section and youll see some pics of me offroading it.
I went with the Long Bed. I surf a lot and the SB wasn't even an option. I came from an 05 ac Tundra and i loved having a decent sized bed.
i think the short beds look kinda dumb stock and really dumb lifted.
the long beds look dumb stock but perfect lifted...i wanted a manual but the looks of a long bed i knew would look good..i swa a couple of shortbeds lifted...ugly.
plus a 6 foot bed is minimum if its a truck
The long beds are pretty nice for haulin 4wheelers

I mountain bike all the time and my bike doesnt fit in my buddies short bed without taking the wheels off. It fits perfectly in my longbed and I dont have to take the wheels off. You just have to decide if you want the offroading benefits of the shortbed or the hauling benefits of the longbed. Either way its hard to be disappointed with a tacoma.

I agree with all the above posts I quoted. I have a streetbike (RC51), will be getting a new dirtbike soon, so having the extra space will be nice. I came from a 06 Tundra Access cab, so I'm used to the length of the truck. As far as parking goes, I back my truck in everywhere I go, makes it a lot easier.

I don't do slow off roading or rock crawling stuff. The reason I have a truck is to haul stuff in the bed, otherwise I would have an S2000. Those two reasons made my decision very easy.

Get an M5 with a stick, get a TRD with Auto. My BMW was a stick and fun to drive but so far ( 10 days now ) the Auto in my truck has worked out great!!

It should be the same length... A long bed DC is a reg bed on a xcab... both are 6'.. Toyota only offers a 5' and a 6' bed... And in 94 they only offered a 6' bed..

get the short bed. getter mpg. better turning radious.

unless you can really warrent the extra beds pace... if youll only need it once or twice... just leave the gate down... in the long run i know i;d never use it.

i kinda worded that wrong. i had both bikes and when toting 1 at a time it barely fit. there's no way i could get 2 bikes of that size in the bed. check out this guys bike rack. this is the one i use now. from this same guy. for the price this thing is gold! if all you want the long bed for is a bike but really want a short bed and can't afford a trailer or the space for a trailer this is the way to go.
i bought this same model from him 1 1/2 years ago and it hasn't let me down yet. i carry my drz 400 on it. wet weight on my bike is 310lbs. this thing doesn't budge. check it out.....:2cents:

i do agree though having a trailer is definatly the way to go. unfortunatly i don't have the space so i went this route instead.
